Biography

Annemette Andersen is a native of Denmark. She lives in New York and works in theater and film internationally.  A long time member of Tim Robbins’ theatre company The Actors’ Gang in Los Angeles. Annemette recently worked with guest director Georges Bigot on materials by Hélène Cixous. Productions with The Actors’ Gang include: RED NOSES, BREAK THE WHIP, OUR TOWN, DRUMS IN THE NIGHT, LOVE’S LABOR’S LOST and BURY THE DEAD (Garland Critics List  Award – Actress in a straight play).

 

In 1991 Annemette came directly from Denmark to Washington D.C., where she was invited to study at the National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts. There she appeared in plays by such diverse authors as Tennessee Williams, Moliere, and Shakespeare. After graduating the conservatory she took up residence at the oldest repertory theatre in the United States, The Hedgerow Theatre, where she worked under the guidance of artistic director, Penelope Reed.  After leaving The Hedgerow Theatre, Annemette headed to New York City where she studied with acclaimed Broadway and Tony Award winning director Vivian Matalon in his theatre master class. While in New York, she appeared in Barry Levinson and Tom Fontana’s police series THE BEAT opposite Mark Ruffalo.

 

Annemette has appeared in many Award winning short films. She played a supporting role in the feature film FREE RIDE, starring Anna Paquin and directed by Shana Betz. Recent international TV shows include: NORSKOV, directed by Louise Friedberg. She plays “DIANA BONDESEN”, a single mom down on her luck. Six Robert Prisen Award nominations by the Danish Film Academy 2016. Next she can be seen as “VIBEKE” in “BEDRAG II” (“Follow The Money”), created by Per Fly. Episode directed by Mads Kamp Thulstrup.
